Allergy 250K project
The Allergy 250K camp held on the Sunshine Coast last month was a great success, with 19 school aged teens and eight peer mentors joining us on camp.
The camp participants engaged in adventure activities, education sessions, and team building and problem solving games. Our campers ranked the big swing which went up to 20 metres high (!) as the favourite adventure activity followed by canoeing and kayaking.
Our dietitians worked with the camp caterers to make sure that we provided delicious and appropriate meals to all the campers. This camp was our greatest challenge yet, as we managed 40 different food allergies plus other special dietaries. The camp caterers were well trained and really understood our needs.
We would like to say a special thanks to all the volunteers who help make these camps possible. Thank you also to our peer mentors, who are very important to the success of these camps.
The next school aged teen camp will be held in Sydney in March 2024.
