Patrons and supporters of our National Allergy Strategy

Patrons are appointed by the National Allergy Council Board in recognition for their significant contribution to the implementation of the National Allergy Strategy.

Clinical Associate Professor Richard Loh (OAM) - Founding Patron

Associate Professor Richard Loh

A/Prof Richard Loh stepped down as Co-chair of the National Allergy Strategy in September 2019. Richard, alongside Maria Said, was involved in the development and implementation of the National Allergy Strategy. Richard was Co-chair of the National Allergy Strategy with Maria since the Steering Committee was established in 2014.

Richard’s passion and commitment to improving the health and well-being of Australians living with allergic diseases has greatly contributed to the success of the National Allergy Strategy.

To acknowledge Richard and his valuable contribution to the National Allergy Strategy, the Steering Committee awarded Richard the title of Founding Patron.

Friends of the National Allergy Strategy / National Allergy Council

A person is recognised as a Friend of the National Allergy Strategy / National Allergy Council for their ongoing support of our National Allergy Strategy. The following people have been recognised:

  • Mr Tony Zappia MP, Member for Makin
  • Greg Hunt, former Minister for Health and Aged Care
  • Professor Katie Allen, former Member for Higgins
  • Professor Dianne Campbell, paediatric clinical immunology/allergy specialist
  • Richard Di Natale, Former Leader of the Australian Greens
  • Ken Wyatt, former Minister for Aboriginal Affairs and Member for Hasluck

Parliamentary Allergy Alliance

The Parliamentary Allergy Alliance was established in 2015 by Anna Burke AO (former Australian politician), Richard Di Natale (former Senator and leader of the Australian Greens) and Tony Zappia MP (member for Makin).

The Parliamentary Allergy Alliance have helped support the implementation of the National Allergy Strategy through advocating on behalf of Australians living with allergic diseases.

The current Parliamentary Allergy Alliance Co-convenors are:

  • Mr Tony Zappia MP, Member for Makin, SA and Deputy chair of Parliamentary Standing Committee on Public Works
  • Dr Monique Ryan MP, Member for Kooyong 
  • Ms Angie Bell MP, Liberal National Party of Queensland
  • Greens represenative TBA

The National Allergy Council would like to thank the founding co-convenors as well as Russell Broadbent MP (Member for Monash), and Dr Katie Allen, former co-convenors.
