Collaborations

The National Allergy Council values collaborations with other organisations working with the food service sector to maximise the impact of the work we can do together.

NSW Food Authority collaboration

In 2023-24, the National Allergy Council collaborated with the NSW Food Authority to develop a comprehensive food allergen management training package for registered training organisations to be delivered as part of their accredited courses for Food Safety Supervisors.

Working together to develop this package, means that all food safety supervisors in NSW will be trained in food allergen management. The content of the All about Allergens online courses has been incorporated into the training package to ensure consistency of information is being provided by our online training as well as the registered training organisations.

We would like to acknowledge and thank the NSW Food Authority for the opportunity to be involved and for leading the way with this important initiative.

Food Allergen Management Consensus Statement

The National Allergy Council led the review and update of this important Consensus Statement which advocates for improved food allergen management. The statement has been developed in collaboration with 15 other organisations. The Consensus Statement recognises that the safety of people with food allergies is a shared responsibility. It details the responsibilities of consumers, packaged food manufacturers, food service businesses, food retailers, health professionals, and regulatory and enforcement agencies.

Healthy Eating Advisory Service

The National Allergy Council has partnered with the National Nutrition Foundation’s Healthy Eating Advisory Service (HEAS) to develop a free online companion course designed to complement the National Allergy Council’s All about Allergens training for Children’s Education and Care. The companion course includes 11 short, practical modules tailored for cooks, chefs and educators in early childhood education and care. Several allergen specific information sheets were also developed as part of this collaboration. These new modules help children’s education and care services to manage food allergies as well as ensure children are provided with adequate nutrition whilst in their care.
