The National Allergy Council and NACE meet in Canberra

Dr Melanie Wong, Maria Said AM and Dr Sandra Vale, Directors and CEO of the National Allergy Council along with Professor Kirsten Perrett and Tenaya Jamieson from the National Allergy Centre of Excellence (NACE), met with Federal Government officials at Parliament House. We met with Richard Temperly, Health Advisor to Senator Anne Rushton, Shadow Minister for Health and Aged Care, Angie Bell, Shadow Minister for Early Childhood Education and Youth, Independent Dr Monique Ryan, Robbie Stephens, Ministerial Adviser for Ged Kearney, Assistant Minister for Health and Aged Care, and Karen Krist, Director of Nutrition Policy for the Department of Health and Aged Care and her team.

These meetings gave us the opportunity to discuss the progress the National Allergy Council and NACE have made since launching in August 2022. We were also able to meet with representatives of the Parliamentary Allergy Alliance and discuss progression of the development of a Parliamentary Friends of Allergy Group. Importantly we were also able to have discussions about the recognition of allergic diseases as a chronic condition.
The National Allergy Council, a partnership between ASCIA and Allergy & Anaphylaxis Australia, has continued to exceed our funding deliverables. On the back of a national consultation process for the Shared Care for Allergy project, we are well into our implementation phase.
